AntiFog Solution - FAQs

Clarity Defog It™ Anti-Fog FAQs

How do I use Clarity Defog It™ antifog cloths? Start with a clean lens. Wipe the cloth across the lens surface, being sure to coat the entire lens well.

How does Clarity Defog It™ work? The proprietary surfactants contained in the formulation form a hydrophilic (water absorbing) layer on the surface of the lens that helps water/fog to sheet evenly and hence improve visibility.
Will Clarity Defog It™ react with the substrate I apply it to? No.
Does the Clarity Defog It™ cloth offer any cleaning properties? No. For best results, we recommend you clean the lens with Nanofilm’s Ultra Clarity® lens cleaner, then use the Clarity Defog It™ anti-fog cloth.
What make Clarity different from other antifogs I’ve tried? Unlike many other products, Clarity Defog It™ is effective on all types of lens surfaces, especially on anti-reflective lenses.
Do I need to clean my lenses before application? Yes. The surface must be clean for the antifog formulation to coat the lens effectively. For best results, we recommend you clean the lens with Nanofilm’s Ultra Clarity® lens cleaner.
What can I use Clarity Defog It™ antifog on?  What types of materials, lenses and coatings? Clarity Defog It™ works on all types of eyeglass and sunglass lenses, including glass, polycarbonate, CR-39 and other lenses. It is also safe on hard-coated, anti-reflective and mirror-coated lenses.
Is Clarity Defog It™ safe to use on all eyeglass and sunglass lens surfaces? Our lab tests have shown that Clarity Defog It™ is safe to use on all types of lens coatings, including anti-reflective coatings.
My lenses have an anti-reflective coating. Is Clarity Defog It™ compatible? Does it streak or will it damage the coating? Our lab tests have shown that it is safe for all coatings including anti-reflective coatings, as well as mirror-coated and hard-coated lenses. If lenses are cleaned before application and buffed sufficiently after application, streaking is not a problem.
My goggles have a permanent antifog coating. What happens if I use Clarity Defog It™ anti-fog cloths on them? Clarity Defog It™ will impart antifog properties to the goggles without damaging the permanent antifog coating.
Can I use Clarity Defog It™ inside my car or on a bathroom mirror? Yes, it is safe to use on these surfaces and will impart antifog properties to those surfaces. Be sure to buff thoroughly to prevent streaking.
How effective is the antifog performance of Clarity Defog It™ cloths? In tests, lenses treated with the Defog It™ formulation were placed directly over steam. No fog formed for six, ten, 20 minutes. Competitive products failed. Treated lenses moved between hot and cold environments, remained clear for 100 transfers, while other anti-fogs failed.
How often do I need to apply Clarity Defog It™? For best results, daily application is recommended.

Will Clarity Defog It™ work below freezing or at high humidity conditions? If the lens temperature falls below the freezing point of water, any moisture on a lens will freeze to form a translucent layer of ice. The product will work in high-humidity conditions.
Can I apply the product at or below temperatures or in high-humidity conditions? For best results, it is recommended to apply the product at above-freezing temperature.
Must I apply the product indoors? Can I apply it outside? It can be applied anywhere as long as the temperature does not drop below freezing.
Can Clarity Defog It™ cloths be used with water sports? Yes, as long as the lens surface on which the product is applied does not come into direct contact with water.
Are there any personal, safety or environmental concerns with Clarity Defog It™? No.
If I see streaks on my lenses, what should I do? The presence of dirt on the lenses or the applicator could cause streaking. Be sure the lens is clean. Buff well. Breathing on the lens after application can reduce streaking.
